Antique German Single Shot .22
I have a single shot .22 that was brought over from Germany by my Great Grandfather. We believe it was mfg'd. somewhere areound 1860 - 1880. The gun is in pretty good condition. All the engraving is clear ect. But, there is no mfgr name, date or S/N to be found anywhere. It has an octagonal barrel and breaks open at the breach as a double barrel shotgun would. The only thing found on the gun that is not decorative engraviong is some numbers on the barrel. They are as follows.. "0,2gr ll.G.P. 1/7" and directly below this is "1,8grbl". Any thoughts or infor would be appreciated.

what you have is probably a "guild gun". the numbers are probably indicative of a german proof house. 0 -

Believe the markings are Greman Proof Marks that were used from the 1890's to just prior to W W I.
The top line refers to the type of gun powder used and it's weight in Grams. Also the date, 1/7 would be Jan. 1907.
The bottom line refers to the type of projectile and it's weight in Grams.
From the weight of the powder and projectile it seems to be very lightly loaded Flobert type cartridge similar to our .22 long.
