Who built your custom 1911?
I have two Wilson's and a Kimber. I am thinking about having a 1911 built for me for carry. What are your experiences?

I had a local smith build mine. He specializes in the Govt Model and Hi Power. But he's tuned some revolvers for me too. One of those good ol guys who knows his stuff.
My recommendation is to talk to a couple local guys at shows or wherever and decide who you like best. That way, if you have any problems or questions, he's close-by.
For a carry gun, I'd stick to reliability rather than gadgets. But you know better what you want.0 -

Check out Hilton Yam. He specializes in straight fighting 1911s. No thrills no frills, just all business. You may have a wait time of a few months because he is in very high demand from what I hear. 0 -
I built my own on a 70 series frame. Beavertail grip safety, countoured and polished magazine well, metalifed frame, National Match
slide and barrel, guide rod, Bomar sights, lightened and thinned hammer, extended adjustable trigger, trigger work. If I could see good enough to utilize it's capabilities, I would be happy.
All of the current pistolsmiths build very good equipment!
Active old guy who lives with two dobermans.0 -
