In a word.YES...A three inch shotgun shell is always considered a "MAGNUM".Just be really sure that 3" Magnum is marked on the barrel. If in doubt take it to a GOOD gunsmith.

If it is a modern shotgun, and factory barrel marked 2 3/4 & 3" you can shoot any shell that is marked 3"
No problem

With regard to the slugs, you will want to make sure the choke is open enough for a slug.

the description of MAGNUM in shotguns generaly refers to the shot charge. Magnum loads tend to be a larger payload of shot. For a 3" shell that could mean a 1 1/4 OZ shot load opposed to a 1 1/8 OZ standard shot load. 0
