Beretta 1951 Question

Are some of the Helwan Parts interchangeable with the original Beretta ones like Barrels, magazine release catches, saftey buttons? And about how much is a Beretta 951 Egyptian contract worth in 70% condition. It has a quite a bit of handling marks (nicks) on it especially the slide, but the bluing is still 85%

    BERETTA MODEL 1951
    (or "BRIGADIER")
    developed in response to a demand by the ITALIAN ARMY for a 9mm parabellum service pistol, this not only marked BERETTAS rehabilitation in military circles but was the companies first successful locked-breech handgun design. the lock was a minor adaptation of the wedge pioneered in the WALTHER P-38, though the open-topped slide and external hammer recalled the MODEL 1934 BERETTA. the saftey bolt running laterally through the frame was conveniant to push to "fire", if less easy to return to "safe".

    series production guns did not appear in quantity until 1957, owing to problems with the wieght-saving light-alloy frame. prolonged testing showed that this could not withstand the battering it took from the slide, and the frame was replaced by a steel equivalent before production began. the 1951 was initialy adopted by ITALIAN FORCES, then, amongst others, by the EGYPTIAN and ISRAELI armies.

    i believe that the major componants are 100% interchangable, but some of the smaller parts (springs, pins, etc...) may difer.

    a solid, well made combat handgun, a bit heavy and oversized...
    value depends largly on markings, and whether or not the gun has a military history and provanance...

    Just had to say something since the 1951 Brigadier was the first pistol I ever bought. Bought it back in 1972, it was on sale, new in box for $139.00. Really loved that gun but sold it around 1979 after my collection (assortment) increased to the point I didn't feel I needed it any more. Dug up a couple of past auctions that might be a guide for ya.
