scope compass

I have compasses on all my scopes that replace the scope cap. They were made or distributed by a company I believe in Michigan. Does anybody know their name or have an address?

    Does anyone know a vendor or the name of the manufacturer of the compasses that replace the windage and elevation adjustment caps on a scope?

    Sorry, no address, but it sounds like a dumb idea to subject a compass (especially a fluid-filled one) to recoil and then expect it to point you anywhere near where you want to go. Even a Brunton would fail under those conditions.

    Marbles used to make one that went in the stock and it worked great !! Only trouble was if it was a collectible gun you had to drill a hole (half inch) to set the compass into.[^] I had one in a Savage 250/1000 for years and it always worked.[^]

    I personally don't see the point of having a compass on any of my stocks. Maybe its because I am an Eagle Scout, and probably partly because one of the parents of a fellow Eagle Scout is a surveyor, but I always have one in my pack and I know how to use it if I ever need to. If you are using a distant house as a waypoint, it might not be the smartest thing top point your rifle around while marking it. Accidents do happen.

    Anybody that hunts in the woods and gets off the road needs and uses a compass. Ive used the type in the scope for 40 years and they work excellent. You can check your direction without taking your hands off your gun and you never have to worry about not having it unless you dont have the gun and I always have two anyway. Cabelas handled them up to a couple of years ago, but I only am interested in the one that replaces the adjustment cap on the scope.

    Hey Jimmy I remember you posting this same post about a year or so ago. I searched for a long time the last time you posted it but never found what you are looking for. I think it is a good idea and can't imagine why this question gets so much negative feedback. A guns recoil can't be any worse than a compass riding in a vehicle over bumpy roads for miles on end or just dropping it.
    If you are sure that Cabela's had it try contacting them and see if the vendor is still making the product, maybe they just quit carrying it because of slow sales. Jimmy when you find them I'd like to get a few too, let me know.
