Colt "ACE"

Hey guys! I need someone to tell me if it is possible to convert my
"ACE" .22 over to .45 ACP ?, and were can I find a compensater/muzzle
brake for the same weapon ?

    Hello do you have a ACE or SERVICE MODEL ACE ? the ace did not have a floating chamber and serial# 1-about 10500 this frame does not have the machineing for the normal EJECTOR and with out a lot of work can't be converted if you want to trade to me I will trade you 2 colt pistols in 45ACP. The service ace will have serial SM 1- about SM14000 these were made thru 1943 and can be converted but there again worth more than a 45ACP of same age. Last but least in value are the service model ace made again in 1978 and yes they can be converted their serial starts with SM14001 & up quote:"PRAISE THE HARDBALL GUN"

    Depends on which version of the "ACE" and the date of manufacture that you have? The very first Ace's date to the 1930's and were straight blowback actuated. The various later model Ace's were made between the 40's and the 80's and have a "Floating Chamber" that actuated the mechanism. These are readily convertible to 45 ACP as long as you have the proper parts.

    Try Brownells www.brownells.com they will be able to fix you up for any parts you need to convert your ACE, also all kind of comps for the 45.

    This is a service model, and the ser.# is SM18xxx.
    Also, what about cost?

    That serial number puts it in the post W W II production range, app. late 70's. Easily convertible to 45 ACP, all you need is correct parts. No gunsmithing required as far as I know, unless the ejector has to be swapped out. All that requires is the proper diameter drift punch.

    As far as cost is concerned, reference Brownells on-line catalog that I listed in my previous post. They stock all the parts you need.
