j stevens arms .22
Can anyone give me an idea of how old this single shot pistol is by
the serial number? 36096 It has a stamp on it also that is either 2D
or 20.it also has a tilt barrel.any help would be appreciated. We found this gun in an old mining ghost town.It still fires very accurately.

If it is marked J. Stevens Arms Company, it was made after 1916. 0 -
Does it look somthin' like this?(Only yours probably doesn't have the buttstock.)

It is close, the trigger guard is a curled strap of steel and it does not have the buttstock . Any idea of it's age ? thanks for your help.zeke b

My guess is that you have a no.35.Offhand Model Single Shot Target Pistol.Made 1907-39
Or a
No.36, made 1880-1911
Or a
No.37,made 1889-1903
Or a
No.38,made 1884-1903
Unfortunately,good accurate records in regards to Stevens firearms is virtually non-existant.That said,a good photo would help tremendously in ID'ing your "found" Stevens.(you lucky devil you.[:D])
