Mauser guard screw

Any word of advice on how to unscrew a stuborn 1933 argentinian mauser rifle rear guard screw without damaging it?

  First., a liberal dose of penetrating oil and let sit for a while.
  Then and this is if you have a drill press, turn it upside down and put it in a padded drill press vice. Screwdriver bit in drill press. Bring the bit down into the slot, keep lots of pressure on it and turn the drill press quill. May want to heat the screw, using a soldering gun applied directly to the screw.

  Penetrating oil and try tightening it first to break the stuck loose, then CCW as normal.

  remove the bolt from the action.
  at the rear tang of the action approximately 1/4 inch from the rear edge is the top (threaded end) of the screw.
  check to make sure this end of the screw is not boogered, peened, or otherwise deformed.
  if all is OK on the threaded end, apply the penetrating oil here.
  if this end of the screw is at all deformed, grind/clean up with a dremel tool & small stone.
  use a screw driver that fits the screw head completely.
