Python info.

Ser#AL8582. Can someone give me a Mfg. date? Can't find in a 96 Blue Book? Also it has wrap around rubber grips with a round metal 1/2" or so emblem with a "P" and lyons head on it. I'm assuming these may be Packmeyer & not orig.? Thanks for the Help. Stay Safe......

  The Colt date charts that most of us use here are from RL Wilson and they stop at 1985. Your Python must be newer than that. The AL prefix isn't familiar to me. A call to Colt may help with a manuf. date?
  The grips are certainly Pachmeyer. Your Python probably came with a similar rubber grip, but if I'm thinking correctly it would have a Colt logoo embossed in the rubber.

  If you call Colt customer service they will, in fact, give you the DOB but no other info. Tom H is correct; the Colt Pachmyers have the Colt logo.

  asop.... Your Python was made in 1980. Colt uses rubber grips from the factory, but they would have the colt insignia on them.
  
  As mentioned, the "P" grips are almost certainly Pachmayr.
