Montgomery Wards Westernfield Model EJN-75 in 30/06
The action looks like a commercial FN Mauser98 and its got mirco-grove rifling. The stock is walnut w/cut checkering and the trigger is adjustable. I tried to measure the rate of twist and got 1-13"? I bought from a friend who has a Colt 57 rilfe in the same caliber and both guns are very similar. It's a tack driver but likes lighter bullets.
Maybe one of you guys have one and/or has any info on it.
Thanks,
PDH

PDH, as you probably know, you'd expect to see a 1:10 twist in a 30-06 barrel. 1:13 sounds really odd. I'd guess 1:14 ? That'd explain the preference for lighter bullets. But maybe it's 1:12 ? Still unusual for an '06, but still better than 1:10 for light bullets. Unless you're gonna shoot moose with it, see if you can work up a good load with 165 or 168 gr. bullets with good accuracy and worry no more.
Good luck,
