Winchester Model 12 Chambering Question
I took my 1938 winchester model 12 to my gun smith to have some work done. As he looked it over he used a gauge to check what length shells it takes. He told me it takes 2 1/2in shells but my barrel is stamped 2 3/4 (originally). What is going on is my gunsmith wrong?

Hello Gerdos: All 12 ga. Md 12s were 2 3/4 in. (Duck guns 3 in), 1927 Winchester started making the 16 & 20 ga. guns 2 3/4. If the barrel is stamped 2 3/4 it is!!! If he tried to measure the chamber with the barrel assy off, he forgot to add the barrel chamber ring, about.200 Sounds like a person who I wouldn't let touch any of my guns! In other words he doesn't know "Jack" about Md 12s!
