Differences in M48 and M98?
New to this site. Just read "differences in syn. stocks". I have found several replacement stocks for M98 mausers, both in wood and syn. Is there major differences on replacement stocks between the M98 and M48,M48a Yugos? Can replacement syn. stocks handle 8mm recoil? I appreciate all info. I recently bought a M48 Yugo, and would like to class it up a bit. Thanks, ccc.

The m48 Yugo is considered an "intermediate" action. In other words, the action is slightly shorter that the M98. Approx 1/4 inch shorter.
M98 between guard screws is 7.825 Same distance on Yugo is 7.625.
Action length is 8.75 vs. 8.50 for the yugo. Thats the basic difference. Need any other info, email me.0 -
JUST AN ADDEMDUM TO BT99'S POST ABOVE " THIS IS NOT A 'SHORT' ACTION. 0 -
Boyd's gunstocks is making replacement stocks for the M48 Yugo's. They range from walnut to laminates. Fully inletted, either semi finished or fully finished depending on what the buyer wants. I think their web address is www.boydboys.com 0
