CCW in Delaware...question?
I am submitting my application for CCW in Delaware (very hard to get but hopefully I'll be one of the lucky ones). My question is, on the application there is a spot to enter your reason for wanting the CCW permit. Can anyone give me any reasons I should or should not put on the application for any reason? Mostly I want it b/c my job requires me to go into bad areas of the city at night, personal protection, etc. But I don't want to get declined b/c some judge didn't like my reasoning.

Nothing wrong with your reason son..That is basically the reason the states are allowing CCW. And there are so MANY bad areas in this country, it is more and more appropriate every day.

Self defense.
If the Sheriff gets buddy-buddy, tell him you do not want to be a victim.
Some in law enforcement will say the best defense is a cell phone.
A small .45 easily reached is a bit more persuasive.
PA will evidently not honor a resident carrying a FL CHL license in PA.
They want the PA resident to have the PA resident license, which is easy enough to get.
But the FL license is accepted in over 25 states.0 -
Since that is what you have to get 5 good citizens to swear to, it should be a good enough reason.
(2) At the same time the person shall file, with the Prothonotary, a certificate of 5 respectable citizens of the county in which the applicant resides at the time of filing the application. The certificate shall clearly state that the applicant is a person of full age, sobriety and good moral character, that the applicant bears a good reputation for peace and good order in the community in which the applicant resides, and that the carrying of a concealed deadly weapon by the applicant is necessary for the protection of the applicant or the applicant's property, or both. The certificate shall be signed with the proper signatures and in the proper handwriting of each such respectable citizen;0 -
Dear Golden,
I know state laws vary quite a bit so take what I say with a grain of salt. In Florida, a regular CCW license does not permit work related carry i.e. security guards etc. There is another permit for that (G-4 permit, I think). My point is that you may limit your response to personal concern for self defense issues and leave "work" out of your response on the application. Good luck with your application.

According to Packing.org a Fla non resident is excepted in Deleware as well as a large majority of other states. 0
