walther p99 any good?

I was just wondering, I was going to buy a springfield or a glock but I saw a killer deal. Lemme know guys, and thanks a lot in advance!

    I like Glocks, and Springfield's XD's have a sweet trigger. But if you "found" a good deal on a Walther P-99, especially the new ones with the weaver style accessory rail, buy it instead. Make sure the pistol you are getting is NOT the QA model which is double action only, or the single (pre-cocked) action only. Get the AS model that allows double action first shot(if you decock it) and single action on following shots, as it gives you a first shot choice, between "default" single action ( with a safety ON in the trigger forward position) or double action ( by decocking). The Walther P-99 is a great gun, growing in popularity. The only complaint is a somewhat "spongy" trigger, which is normally expected in a defense gun. They are very accurate out of the box.

    I tried one out at the local range - wasn't too impressed. Much prefer H&K USP's.

    Jump on it. Great guns. Retired my SIG P226 after I got the Walther. Very accurate and easy to shoot.

    Do you know which trigger profile you want? And which profile the one you are looking at has? The Anti Stress Trigger, or the Quick Action one? The Anti Stress on a DAO is a LONG trigger pull, a little over ? inch and breaks about 9 lbs. The Quick Action has a shorter travel, about .22 inch and breaks a little over 7 lbs.

    I liked them enough that I got one for the wife, and she likes it. With the interchangeable backstraps for the grips, it was the one that "fit" her hand the best, using the smallest of the three that are available. The mag release is in the trigger guard (like my USP) which "for us" makes it easier to release the mags. No repositioning of the hand at all. I don't care much for where the decocker is, but she doesn't mind, and that is what is important.
