.45 Colt/.410 shotgun compatibility?

Probably been hashed here before but since I recently obtained a Springfield Armory M6 Scout (rifle/shotgun combo), I am concerned with this question up-close and personal. According to the catalog, the "pistol" version lists chamberings as .45 LONG Colt/.410 & .22; however, the "long gun" version makes NO mention of the .45 Long Colt option--just the .410 & .22. [8)]

Question: Can I assume that the .45 LONG Colt can be safely fired in my "long-gun" version .410 barrel? If not, why not? I also recall once owning a Thompson/Center Contender barrel that was marked .45 LONG Colt/.410. I never fired either round in that barrel and I've since traded it away. Help? Anyone? [:)]

    I appreciate the link and the note, but I've been to the website (it's bookmarked on my computer) and I have an owner's manual. Neither source answers my question...unless I'm just too blind to see it. [:(]

    I suspect it may have something to do with the barrel choke. If it is not cylinder choke, I would not shoot copper jacketed bullet through it. Accuracy cannot be all that great considering there would be no twist to stabilize the bullet.

    Springfield Armory would probably be out of bussiness if they made a smooth bore rifle and sold it to the public,,as far as shooting slugs through your long gun ..what is the choke on it? If it is full choke no slugs of any kind (PISTOL OR SHOTGUN) should be shot through it.These are for MOD choke,,,

    i don't what his [Ram'Xl]question really is but a 45 [.451 ]anything down a 410 [.410 ] ain't gonna work to well, maybe a 410 down a 45 tube yah...i ain't gonna tell how we did it or some unlucky boob will blow their A$$ off, but we fire .41 mags in an old H&R 410 shotgun wasn't to bad at 25yrds.....[}:)] Thompson Contender has a .45 tube w/a screw-in choke for shooting shot shells, their maybe more out there as well....i hope Ramtinxxl doesn't hurt himself trying some experiment

    Fear not for me, friend, I won't be "experimenting" with lethal weapons. I'll not put a solid bullet (.45 OR .410 slug) in my M6. The .22 will serve my solid bullet needs--the .410 will do the scattering. Besides, I DO have other guns for other purposes. No need to die for science, huh? Thanks anyway. [:D]
