Looking for a double barrel shotgun.
I am looking at purchasing some sort of 12 gauge over and under. I am looking in the price range of plus or minus $500. So I will either have to look for a used gun or a cheaper make. It seems to me that over and under guns seem to old there value over time, even if used. Is this the case? I plan on using the gun for trap/skeet shooting and the occasional phesant hunt. Several questions that I have are.
Are EEA Baikel guns decent guns?
What older models/makes are in this price range and is there any links for some more info on them?
What gun would you recommend?
Some requirements that I have are the price range and must have screw out chokes. I would also like something that is a little heavier so it has a little less kick.

My 2 cents for that price would be a Lanber o/u. Stiff action at first but after couple hundred rounds, works just fine. Check auctions or your local shop. IMO. nambu 0 -
I am going to look at a local gun show that is in a couple of weeks. Figured I could get more price info there. But still won't know what I am really looking at as I am just now doing research. It seems to me that most of the auctions on here are all for new guns, not to many used ones.
Thanks to anyone in advance.0 -
If you are a member at the auction (if not see below) you can "save" a search and get email notification when items in that category are posted for auction.

Thanks for that heads up Henry0Reilly, did not know that you could do that. 0 -
I was in the same postion a few months ago. The cheaper guns do not compare with a higher qauilty o/u. I bucked up and bought a Citori 525 Field ($1600). My skeet score is now consistently in the low 20's. There are some great used Citoris out there in the $850-1100 range. 0 -
Get the one that you can shoulder correctly and get the correct cheek weld easily and comfortably and get the proper alignment with your eye; ie., one that fits you. Next get the one that will hold up to the amount of use that you are going to give it. Lastly, if you have friends that have shotguns, then go to the closest range with them and try theirs; the other option is if you have a trap/skeet/sporting clay range close, then go there and talk with the folks, get their opinions and even try out their shotguns....
I've had the cheaper shotguns and they just didn't hold up to reasonably heavy use.... Remember, you get what you pay for....

You might find a used Red Label Ruger or Browning Citori for $750 to $850 if you look at the shows. They are both good, solid guns and will last your lifetime and a couple more. Pull both up, as they feel different to different people. Might also find a used white wing Beretta in the same price range. 0 -
I would defenitly go for that price if I can find a good one used. Also depends on how much the lady lets me spends. I really do need to get out and feel around some. Been looking at semi autos, but just have something that I will still be able to keep my shells easier. I love shooting side by sides, but never have had the chance to shoot an o/u.
How are the chokes on those two guns?0 -
Why not place an AD on the <Wanted Forums> and see what kind of response You can generate.....Best.....

Capt. posting on the want adds is a joke any more ![V] the reason I say this is because Iconoclast will lock your request if there is any thing that comes close to what you want on the auctions ie like this one on page 3 on ..........

Krunch, if you've not already done so, please read the guidelines at the top of the page. There is at least one such revolver already listed for auction on this site:
http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=27963258
If you use the search function, you may well find others. this is a very useful tool; it took about 30 seconds to find the above listing.
If, after you have done the search, you don't find everything you want or it doesn't match your needs, post again with greater specificity - for example, with a max price.

now if you go look at the auction that iconoclast shows you will see it is for one with a 6" barrel not what the guy was looking for at all
[xx(] there are many more locked topics just like this one if you take the time to look a them0
