Sears .22 rifle
I inherited a Sears model 42 rifle in 22 cal. from my dad. It has a front hooded sight, chrome(?) bolt, trigger & guard, a rear adjustable sight with Lyman stamped on it, and is clip fed. The overall condition appears to be great with no rust or dmaged stock. Just curious what it might be worth, who made it, and in what year?

Cross reference in Blue Book says Marlin model 80 made 1934-39, as a Marlin $45 to $85. Seems a little low, even for a contract gun. The rule says that a contract arm is worth half or a little more than the original maker arm. If in nice shooting condition, most of the bluing, magazine is good, no rust, should still be in the $50 to $80 dollar range on the right day. 0
