Looking to buy a magnum power semi auto pistol and need some peoples opinions about performance and reliablilty. I was looking at the Auto Mag III in .30 carbine, or the Auto Mag V in 50 AE. Of course I am also looking at the desert eagle, but from the specs it seems much heavier than the auto mags and more expensive. Is there anyone else making a semi auto in 50AE???

There is an LAR Grizzly that is based on the 1911 but chambered for 45 WinMag or 50 AE. Go with the DE, easier to get stuff for (i.e. parts, mags, etc..)

    Love them Beavers

I would steer clear of the Auto Mag pistols. The companies that manufactured them, AMT & Galena Industries, both went belly up years ago.

Even when they were in production they experienced problems with the materials the pistols were made from (soft stainless castings), also the workmanship used in assembling them left a lot to be desired.

Go with the Desert Eagle, LAR is also out of production, although they did have a much better reputation then the AMT/Galena handguns.

Yeah I looked at those and they are accurate but are rather low on the muzzl energy end. I am looking for a big bore handcannon. I am going to probably go for the LAR Grizzly and if I cant get one I will buy a 10mm pistol which will give me a little better than 357 mag power.

Maybe a Wildey Survivor 475? A few hundred less than the Desert Eagle. Stay Safe................................

For the trouble and price of getting one of the mentioned pieces, might want to consider a wheel gun. It will be a lot cheaper and if six shots of .454 cassull, .480 Ruger or .500 Rem don't kill what you shoot at, it can't be killed.
