Low profile dovetail sights for 1911?

Can anybody help me find the right rear sights (low profile)that does not require milling of the slide?

I've found replacement sights that are pretty much the same but larger and have the three dot system.


Here's what they are going on. I think I'll add a wide spur hammer also. SA GI 1911a1

    yes, but thats overwhelming. I'm trying to pick the brains of people that have upgraded so I won't get the wrong ones. What cut do I have? what rear sight will just drop in?. The question I originally asked was stated poorly. The source is obvious. Sorry about that guy's.[8D]

    I put Micro 3-dot sights on one of my 1911's, & no alteration to the slide had to be made. But, there's no guarantee that the exact model is still being sold; you have to read the sellers description.

    However, replacement of 1911 sights is a job for a gunsmith, never a "drop in" job. If you don't drift out the rear sight properly, you will mar the receiver. The front sight is even more difficult; the old one must be removed, & the new one staked in place with a special tool before the post is ground flush with the inside of the slide.

    I recommend just taking the gun to a gunsmith, & let him order the sights for you.

    Mec-Gar used to make "Drop-In" adjustable sights. I don't know if they still do but an internet search may help. Here is my commander with them installed.

    If you plan on changing that site ,you have to accept to get anything better your going to have to machine the slide for a dovetail ,bomar,or navak cut {they are all dovetails of different dimensions},I would go with the standard dovetail ,and while I was at it since you are going to have to refinish it ,have one cut in the front

    As far as a wide spur hammer goes,save your money ,you really never should be thumbing the hammer on a 1911 anyway ,it is ether down on a unloaded chamber ,or cocked and locked ,you never rest a 1911 hammer on a loaded chamber anyway

    I haven't put a set of sights on a .45 for 20 years now. I send mine to Wayne Novak in West Virginia. He can put an excellent set of low profile, snag free sights on a .45 that would please anyone. If you want to pay the extra tariff, I'm sure he would do the tritium sights as well.

    oh i forgot

    What you have on the gun shown is a pinned in site ,again not a do-it-yourself job unless you have the proper tools
