Browning blr ?

Does anyone know when was the first year that browning made the blr 81 in .223 caliber? thanks

  i called browning and before 68 i think they said that they couldn't tell for sure but that was for a bl22 i'm sure if nobody else helps you that you could call them. from my experence their customer service was very nice and informative. best of luck to you.

  The Browning BLR 81
  was made in 1981-95 but not in .223
  The lightning BLR was made in .223
  from 1995 to date
  Both made in japan
