Hopkins and Allen 14 GUAGE?

I have recently purchased a breakover action shotgun which at first glance I had mistaken for a 12 guage. The markings on the side are worn and barely readable but upon inspection I can read that it is a Hopkins and Allen product. This company merged with another company and abandoned the Hopkins and Allen name sometime between 1913 and 1917 (I forget which). There are no markings on this shotgun other than the company name, the words "fully choked" on the upper part of the barrel, and a 4 digit identification number. After noting that it wasnt a 12 guage I thought maybe it was a 16 guage. It isn't. It is slightly larger than a 16 and slightly smalled than a 12. Does anyone know if Hopkins and Allen made a 14 guage or could this simply be a worn out 16 guage. I can privide photos if needed. Thanks for all assistance.

  Did H&A make a 14ga? I don't know.
  I do know that Winchester (at least, probably others also) made 14ga 2 1/2" shotgun shells.
  Sounds like you have a nice "wall hanger"
