Had a Rem. pump in 30-06. Kicked like a mule, but took down every whitetail I hit with it. The 308 should be a little softer on the shoulder. 0 -
Great guns.

I never saw a decent pump rifle that wasn't accurate.[^] [^] [^]

I always think I need to "upgrade" to a bolt action like in the hunting mags. Well, my model 760 .30-06 pump works just fine and is accurate to boot.
Personallly, I love this rifle. Perfect for where I hunt and the hunting type I do here in Wisconsin. .308 should be a great choice in a great type of deer rifle

Outside of a few $2500.00 custom chuck rifles, one of the most accurate factory rifles I ever owned was a 760, 270 Remington pump shooting 150 Hornady Spire Points with a straight 6X on it out to 300 yds. Anybody that I knew with one no matter what the caliber was had nothing but good to saw about them.

I have one thing against the pump 760 rifle. You have to make sure you slam the slide hard fordward or the bolt might not go over the round, thus it wont fire and then pickup another round on the next pump for a jam. This happened to me twice. I agree with the others about how good it is. Mine got converted maney years ago to 35 Whelen. 0 -
is the 760 the same as 7600? 0 -
The 7600 is the new model I believe. 0 -
I have Remington 760 pumps in 30-06, 270, 300Sav.,and 35Rem. also a 7600 in 30-06 and a 7600 in 243. every one is super accurate and real reliable. The 7600 is an upgraded 760 and in my opinion is more accurate. My 7600 243 is a true tack driver and can hold it's own with most bolt guns! One of the advantages of the pump is the inherent accuracy of the follow up shots. I also have a Remington 870 in 12, 16, 20, and 410 shotguns as well as a Delux mod. 572 .22. Just ask me if I think Remington pumps are any good![:)]

Hello earlwellman: Pump rifles have been around for quite some time. A lot of people like them. My grandmother bought a new Remington, Md 760 shortly after they came out in a 270 cal. I remember her telling stories of her first deer with it, and for a couple more fall hunting seasons that followed. Long story short, I have the gun now, not much of a rifle person, (mostly shotguns) but have taken it pig hunting twice, got a nice pig each time, both around 100yard shots, both kills with one round. It's definately easier for me to operate than my bolt, or lever guns!! Must be because I grew up on a pump shotgun and it just feels right! Regards Dave 0
