I have a French Modele 1935 S semi-automatic pistol. Markings on the body are "MODELE 1935 S" with an "MI" in a different stamp size following it, "CAL. 7.65 L", MAC-E 7535", & "M.A.C.". I have been trying to find some kind of ammunition that I can use in this piece. No luck yet. Do you know of any place that I can get this ammunition or are there any casings that can be reworked to fit this piece? Some one suggested reworking a 30-30 casing. Does that sound feasible? I don't think the 32ACP will work. Is there any chance of doing something to the pistol that would allow it to accept some more modern ammunition? Thank you for any help I get.

Sounds like a French ruby pistol to me ,7.65X19.5mm ,same a .32 S&W long
.32acp is 17mm long ,should cycle ok ,I myself wouldn't touch it ,as far as changing it ,the ammo it uses isn't bad priced if you can find it ,it may be worth more than you think

1911a1fan/ The picture on the bottom showing the 1935-S on the butt of the gun is the one I have. I did find some one who responded to my want ad but he wants $3.75 a piece for the bullets. I can't afford that so I just won't shoot it. Thanks for the info. 0 -

Prospects for finding cartridges for these are not good.
This cartridge is also known as the 7.65mm MAS, the abbreviation of the French arsenal.
Cartridges for these weapons were manufactured only in French and Vietnamese aresenals and are no longer in production. You have encountered the collector value for these cartridges and you would be lucky to find any quantity of these at a reasonable price.
According to Cartridges for Collectors, 10th edition,the case for these is actually 19.8mm and the round is said to be more powerful than the .32 auto.
I do not know of an easily convertable casing. Usually, Cartridges of the World is source for this info but is silent on the subject of the 7.65 MAS because it is an obsolete cartridge. You basically have a collectors' gun.
Maybe someone else will know.

1911a1fan, the .32 S&W L is a rimmed case, the 7.65 MAS a rimless . . . whole different animal.
French, you *can* make the brass using the .32 S&W L as the raw material. The rim has to be turned off and an extraction groove cut ahead of where the rim was previously located. Unless you have a lathe, time and a burning desire to shoot this thing, likely not worth the effort. If you do wish to pursue this, I'll copy the data from my references.

yes i know the difference ,this gun has been known to shoot both ,due to there not being much difference in this cartridge
