Shell blocking barrel

Hi there, Is it possible for a shell to be stuck in an 8 mm pistol or is it more likely that the pistol is a replica with the barrel blocked permanently. Thanking you kindly King

    What kind of 8mm pistol are you talking about?
    Some years ago I bought a 30 caliber Mauser that wouldn't chamber a round. You couldn't see the obstruction which turned out to be a broken off cartridge case that had it's front and rear tapered so as to make it's detection difficult. I believe it was purposely disabled during WW2.
    The firing pin tip was also broken off.
    I drove a lead bullet through the muzzle and out came the brass casing.

    Well very few modern pistols were made in 8mm, but many of the newer blank firing guns are in that caliber. If it is a newer looking gun like a colt45 or Beretta auto then it is only meant to fire blanks. The only gun chambered in that caliber that pops in my head is a turn of the century Steyr.

    Hi grabyogunz,

    There are only a few actual 8mm cartridges that I am aware of including the 8mm Rast-Gasser introduced in 1898, the 8mm Lebel Revolver circa 1892, the 8mm Roth-Steyr circa 1907, and the 8mm Japanese Nambu circa 1904. All of the above firearms are antiques and collectors items.

    If your firearm appears to be 100 years or more in age, yes, it may be possible it is a stuck shell in a functional firearm, otherwise, it is probably a blank gun. My advice is to take it to a friend who knows firearms, a gunsmith or a Guns Store and have them evaluate the pistol for you.
