Hero pistol

What can you tell me about a pistol stamped " Hero Mfg."? It is percussion with a smashed nipple, missing grips. appears to be about .30-.32 caliber. 4-5" barrel.

  the 'hero' marked pistos were manufactured by j. rupertus of philadelphia. during 1860's/1870's.

  My reference notes that the "Hero" marked single shot percussion pistols, were manufactured by the Manhattan Firearms Company in the 1850's.
  
  In "Flayderman's Guide" he has a chapter devoted to Manhattan firearms and pictures of some of their single shot pistols. You MIGHT? be able to confirm the identity of your pistol that way?
