Fulton armory tanker garand 308 help

Hello Ya'll
A buddy has a fulton armory tanker garand in 308. It's shorter than a standerd garand hince they call it a tanker. I have been told it is in excllent condtion, I have not seen it. Does anyone know what they sell for and are they any good? He sez rifle is very accurate, and a good shooter. Anyone have one?

  If you must have a tanker, then those by Fulton Armory (& Springfield, Inc) are the only ones to buy, as most others will not function reliably.
  
  It's difficult to put a value on a tanker. I see asking prices in the $400-600 range, but few sales. Most people who know what they are won't have one, unless the price is ridiculously low.
  
  The problem is that tankers don't do any job well. They are heavy & awkward (like the original M1), but in addition have excessive muzzle blast that makes shooting them unpleasant. Firing one at a range is a sure way to clear the shooting points on either side of you.
  
  Before the development of M14-clones, creation of an M1 tanker looked like a worthwhile project. Now, however, the M14-clones are a much better platform for a semi-auto .308; they are lighter, better balanced, have less recoil, & they take a 20 rd box mag. And, they can easily be customized or accurized.
