Are these Shotshell primers still used?

Cleaning my garage out I came across primers from my reloading days.

They are remington #57 and #97 and winchester #209 - are these still standard? Not like I am out a bunch, they are all marked $1.10 per hundred box. The local fire department shuts their door when they see me coming now, so I would like to get rid of them if they are still useful for reloading. If not, then I need to figure out what to do.

    Yes to the W209's. The Rem 57's are an older primer slightly smaller in diameter. Haven't seen hulls that use them for a looooooooong time. The Rem 97's I believe are the same size as the W209's

    mbill- I have a bunch of once fired Remington 12 ga hulls that were just too nice to throw away, but were unuseable because the only primer now available is the 209 size. Which would you prefer? I can buy the primers from you, or I can send my hulls to you. Let me know if you're interested.

    Guess I have a bunch of one shot ammo now too... No wait, I don't have a 12 gauge anymore... Well some one will want them, I hope...

    the 57's should have a star on the pack...(57*) thats to let you know they are different in size. they can only be used in old remington hulls made for them. in other words they are obsolete. the 97's were discontinued and replaced by the 109's and then they were swept out in light of the new 209 series. the 109's, 97's, and 57's had open flash holes. fine grain powders use to fall into it and do bad things on igition. the 209 has a flash hole cover. bad things dont happen anymore! hope this helps.

    Huh, bet that's how I was able to get a pile of those odd sizes for next to nothing some years back. Guess they need to go to the great dump in the sky, or something. Thanks for the informative reply!

    Do you still have those primers? I got a couple thousand old Rem. and AA shells. I think they used either 57 or 97 for 410 shells which I have alot of.
