LEFEVER DOUBLE BARREL SHOTGUN

I am looking for any info on lefever shotguns. I have a two trigger side by side with matghing serial # But don't know the model number or if there is one. It's a 12ga. The recoil pad says it is a Mershon deluxe slipon (med) Any help would be appreachiated

    I have a Lefever double barrel 16 ga. Shotgun. It appears to be F grade. The serial number is 14568. This gun has automatic injectors and is made by Lefever Arms Co. It has a bird dog on one side and on the other side it has a bird dog with pheasant in its mouth. It also looks like inlaid silver on the sides. This has also some other engravings on wood. The gun looks to be in good condition and good and tight. Inside of barrel is very good.

    Can anyone tell me when it was made and the value of it?

    We will need pictures on this one I fear! Lefevers are very collectable, so I would consider the time spent doing pictures up for us as time well invested. Could be worth a few hundred...could be worth several thousand!

    Hello snopydog...

    I would recommend that you also post your question on Gunshop.com... there is a crusty old curmudgeon who answers to the name of "Russ" that is very knowledgeable about LeFever scatterguns.

    Afternoon snoopydog,

    Your gun was manufactured between 1891 and 1892.
    The first F" was introduced in 1889.
    The engraving on the wood is called checkering.
    Appears to be a damascus gun and is not safe to fire.
    Appears also to be original but has been into a time or two.
    Am not up on Lefever prices but do not plan an early retirement.
