stamped receivers on the ak-47

ok I'm confused what is a stamped receiver? Whats the diffence with one that is and one that is not. Also I just bought a sar1 do they have a stamped receiver? Thanks everyone

    SAR-1s have stamped receivers. The two types of AK receivers as far as I know are stamped and milled. Milled is heavier and more costly to produce. Conversely, stamped is lighter and cheaper to make, thus making stamped more common. Some argue that milled is more reliable than stamped, but it's an AK-47, it's going to be damn reliable no matter what.

    A stamped AK receiver was made out of stamped sheet metal and bent to form the receiver shell. Then, it was drilled and pieces cut out to form the magazine well, rivet holes, and pin holes which is less expensive to mass produce. Milled receivers are milled out of a block of metal which is more expensive to produce, but providing a heavier receiver than stamped. Milled receivers do not require a barrel block where stamped receivers have a barrel block. Milled receivers are supposedly more accurate than stamped receivers so I have heard on a few message boards. I used to own an SAR 1 and all Romanian AKs have a stamped sheet metal receiver.
