I have a Remington model 1100 in 12 ga with a 2 3/4" barrel. I was thinking about getting another barrel that would handle 3" ammo. It dawned on me that the action may not work with 3 inch ammo. Questions: Would the action work and eject a 3" shell and load the next round? Will the gas operating system handle the extra load??

    Thanks in advance.

Ed.......I own a Remington 20 ga. 1100 which is older. It is referred to as a "standard model" and will not accept LT or LW barrels. The receiver is the same size as a 12 gauge. The LT and LW models have smaller receivers. I don't know if LT and LW barrels are interchangeable. If you have the "standard" barrel I do not believe you'll be able to install it. It will be too large. The "standard" barrel is not so easy to find as the LT or LW barrels and may be worth a bit more.

I know there are guys out there who know more and I bet they will respond..............Len

MRS102 IS CORRECT THEY HAVE DIFFERENT SIZE RECIEVERS AND MAG TUBES ALSO I BELIEVE . THE BARREL LUG THAT SLIPES OVER THE MAG. TUBE IS
SMALLER IN DIAMETER ON THE LT. WT. MODEL .

Yes.....along with everything else it takes to convert it to 12ga.
