Winchester Model 12 Safety

I bought a Winchester Model 12 Y Model 12ga. trap that had the safety removed. Do any of you model 12 experts know what piece or pieces were removed? Does anyone know where I might be able to buy these parts? I just thought that if someday I wanted to live bird hunt, I would need to have the safety installed. Thanks in advance.

    a small coil spring with a hardened pin that fit in the small hole next to the trigger guard and the safety button itself. Check inside the buttstoch through bolt hole and inside the mag tube..sometimes the owner that removed the parts put them there for safe keeping...

    Hello draginfish! You should be able to get these parts from www.e-gunpats.com about $25-$30 plus shipping. You should know they are the same for "Y" and pre-64 guns. I do have the little detent that rides on top of the spring, if gunparts doesn't have them, email me. Regards Dave

    I have some safeties around here somewhere,if I can find them I'll let you know.You'll still need the small parts(spring,etc.). I keep the originals when I switch mine to the wide left-hand safeties.
