Magnum primer in 22-250????
Can I use Winchester Large Rifle Magnum primers in a 22-250??? I bought these for my contender in 45-70. I sold the contender, and now I have 1000 of these primers left over. I will be using H4895 at nowhere near the maximum load. I have done a lot of reloading over the years, and my instincts say there won't be a problem because of this powder and staying away from maximum loads, but I thought I had better ask the other reloaders on here. I will be using them in a rifle with a very strong action(Ruger #1 Varmint).

back off on your charge a bit and work up. you should have no problem 0 -
The Winchester Large Rifle Magnum primers are the hottest of the hot.
Even more so than the great Federal 215 Magnum.
As long as you start low as has been said you should have no problem.
As a rule 22/250's do not need one,and usually give a wider velocity spread than regular primers. but if you have a bunch I see no reason for not using them. If you have access to a cronograph check the differences out, and you'll see what I mean. [:)]
