Mauser Bayonet question
Anyone know how the bayonet slides on the Mauser 98? My bayonet is kind of rusted and it looks like there might be a small round button that has to be pushed in to get it to lock in place.
Any info would be appreciated.

The button has to be pushed to get the bayonet off the rifle. To get it on it should just snap over the detent. It sounds like you need to take the catch assembly apart and clean out the rust and lube it. 0 -
Depending on who made you bayo determines if it can be disassembled. Some releases were in fact staked on so to remove them is not a job for an amateur (and still have it look normal).
If you could possibly post or send me a photo of the button I could walk you through it.
