colt AR15 preban

What would the value on a Colt AR15 be? Also, how would one tell if it's a preban model or not. One just went in the paper this morning and the fellow is asking $500.00. The seller also said it's a preban. My guess would be that if it's in good shape, it would be a steal. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

  Does anyone know the serial number of Colt AR15's when the ban started? if it has 5/16" pins is it a pre ban?

  All Colt AR-15's are pre-ban. (An AR-15 is marked on the receiver "AR-15".)

  depends on what state your in....in new york...preban does matter....
