serial number?

I was given this number that is supposed to be the serial number from a Winchester Model 70, an older one. I do not from where this number was gleened from the gun. It has too many numbers? The number given is 61180120. I know nothing else about the rifle, as I have not seen it. Can anyone shed some light on this.

    Sure can. I got it from the Standard Catalog of Smith & Wesson, second edition, page 296.

    You can get a copy on most of the gun auctions and the big "E" auction. Try auction #'s 27413335, 27459700, and 27405992 here on Gunbroker.
