Anyone have an opinion on it? Seems to be a good deal if it shoots near as good as the 700.

    Do yourself a favor.
Go with a Savage or possibly find a used mod 700 or something of higher quality. You may have to spend a little more up front, but
    you won't regret it.I promise.

Remington has less time and money in the 710...But the 30-06 can stand those 400+ yard shots with no problem if the shooter is up to it.
As said before even a used 700 would be a better bet for quality.

Gun control is hitting what your aiming at.

They have a terrible bolt throw and I've read some really bad reviews on them. There have been reports of bolts breaking because remington used plastic inserts. The barrel is pressed into the stock and it cannot be changed if by chance you ever need to. As far as I can tell its only got two things going for it. 1, its got a detatchable mag and 2, it comes with a pre-bore sighted scope. Check out a savage or a used 700.

I bought one back in college because $$$ was at a minimum. I would not say it's a great gun by any means but it has served me well for the past 5 years of deer hunting in some nasty weather. I like the fact that I can take it out in any kind of weather and not worry about it. As for the factory scope...DO NOT go into the woods without giving it a try b/c mine was about 20 clicks off to the right!!! Other than that I've had no problems with it what so ever.

I looked at one before I bought my M70. I liked the price but it just looked and felt cheap. I wouldn't buy it.

Same here, steer clear. I just advised my brother to get the savage at wally world vs. the 710. He digs his new .270 model 10 a lot better. If you want a Rem, there is an 700 adl that has a little less quality wood than the bdl, but the same guts.
