I believe that the box on a Savage 110 is held on by one screw. Very easy to take it off and put a new one on.

Make sure the magaxine box is lined up correctly and that the follower is the correct one.

I had one in my shop with the same problem. Customer said 1 out of 20 or more may feed correctly. The follower was put in backwards. Rounds loaded OK in magazine.

If you look at the follwer from the top down the flat part will be in the front. The bump/groove should be to the rear.

    Edit:

Also make sure the magazine box is up tight into the receiver where it should be. It's a common mistake that inexperienced people putting them back together make. There should be like a tab or flange that fits the bottom of the receiver. If that isn't high enough then it won't allow the next cartridge to get picked up and pushed forward into the chamber.

    -good luck
