Question regarding old shot gun

I inherited a double barrel shot gun that was my grandfathers he pased away early 1950,s .The gun has external cocks and the the only marking are Sam Holt Arms Co. and an engraving of a dog( pointer?).On the Stock plate, On the barrels it reads Laminated steel .And something we cant read. When the gun is broke open there are symbols underneath one being a diamond and another being a crown with LG inside.
There are other markings i cant read. Anyone Know anything about this firearm ??? Cant find any info on Sam Holt Arms Co. Been told it is possibly Belgium Manufactured in the Mid to late 1800.It could even have been his fathers, no one knows . I know it cant be fired due to movement between the barrel and stock .

    Cannot help with the maker, but I THINK the "laminated steel" is another way of saying Damascus. If so, should not be shot with any current smokeless ammo.

    SAM HOLT is a PLAY ON WORDS to look like SAMUEL COLT built your shot gun The LG inside an oval with a crown is BELGIUM and this shotgun even when new would not be for modern shells with smokeless powder. A nice wall hanger with family connection.

    Yep just ran across this: Sam Holt Arms Company shotguns were made in Belgium by F. Dumoulin & Company from 1894 to 1930 to be sold by Sears Roebuck.

    You already have most of the information and most of it is correct. Just a few minor corrections. The name, the maker and the seller are correct. The time period is incorrect,
    These Belgian made guns were imported and sold between 1880 and 1914 when World War One, The Great War or The War To End All Wars (chose one) ended exports from Europe. There were also two other makers of shotguns with some form of the name Sam or S. Holt. All were Belgian. Guns with the name of just Sam Holt were made by Henri Pieper and Anciens Establissment Pieper (same company, just different names at different times) and S. Holt Arms Raleigh Steel made by Neumann Freres. All these companies were and are located in Liege, Belgium. Recheck that proof mark. Belgian proofs are the letters "ELG" in an oval with maybe a crown over that.
