CZ 52 OR TOKAREV 7.62X25

If you had to choose, of these two pistols, which would it be and why?

Just thinking about getting one or the other. They offer a very inexpensive round which pack alot of heat. I doubt I would use for carry purposes, as I have a variety of smaller (frame) options to choose from.

Any & all input is welcomed.

    I bought the CZ52 because, IMO, it was the higher quality pistol. The Tokarevs that were available then were not the arsenal refinished tight weapons that the CZ was. That does not mean that this is still the case. Buy the best quality that is available to you and don't look back. The one feature of the CZ that I don't like are the sights which are not replaceable.

    Thanks for the input. I have found both of these in good condition and have read some of the previous posts regading them. I figure I'll ask those who already have one or the other, and let you tell me what is better & worse about them.

    I like the tok better. I have both, the tok has better sights.

    I've owned both. I prefer the CZ 52 for: easier takedown, stronger action, less felt recoil, can handle HOTTER rounds, better ergonomics.

    I have a few Toks, 7.62x25 and 9mm plus a 38 super barrel and spring.
    The Chinese 9mms have a grip spacer that comes out and allows the longer (fore and aft) 7.62x25 mag to fit.
    Some say the longer mag works ok with 9mm but I haven't tried it.
    I have fired NATO +P 9mm in one.
    Chinese Toks have a funny safety that works ok once you get used to it but Polish guns have a more conventionally located one.
    Tokarevs have proven to be stronger because the CZs are thinned out in the chamber area to engage locking rollers. This area has given out with bad ammo. Google 7.62x25 for an article on CZ KABOOMS with a certain lot of Bulgarian ammo.
    Toks are slimmer making for better concealed carry.
    I don't care for the grip angle but one gets used to that too.

    Thanks for the information. I do like the more slim look and feel of the Tokarev as opposed to the CZ52. Also, I think parts (if needed) may be easier to obtain to the Tokarev. Parts for the CZ may be harder to locate.

    Which Tokarev's are better quality? I know Norinco makes them and there are Romanian & Polish. Would they be graded:
    1-Polish
    2-Norinco
    3-Romanian

    You realize you need to buy at least one of each Tok & CZ.

    On the Tok's I would buy which ever is the least expensive 1st. I had a Chinese 9mm Tok that I coverted over to 7.62. The safety had been removed on it. I traded it to a friend a few years ago.

    What I liked about it was that it was very 1911-ish. Almost a simplified 1911.

    With the Tok, if you hold it in a high 1911 style grip it will bite you. However, I found my Tok to be more comfortable to shoot even with a lowered grip. Find that the CZ52 has a really weird grip angle.

    Edit, I would buy a Romanian or Polish 1st before I bought another Chinese.
