Colt Officers Model 22lr
Hi,
Wound up with a couple of my grandfathers guns after my grandmother passed. Pulled this one out of the safe today, cleaning it and wanting to jot down the serial number for my records. I can't find one? Can anyone enlighten me to where it is hidden?
Not that I'll ever sell it but I am curious as to its value. This along with the others will be passed down to my son when he gets a bit older. 4th generation to enjoy them.

Welcome to the forum. You will find a wealth of information here.
Swing the cylinder down and you will see the serial number stamped on the yoke. That is the part of the frame that descends downward from the rear of the barrel.0 -

I agree, he had good taste. Wound up with three, this being by far the nicest. They were never well to do and used them. A Model 11 Remington 12ga , an 1890 Winchester in 22 long and this one. The long guns need some work to get in shooting shape. Working on that and looking forward to the range this spring with my son.0 -
You definitely have a keeper. I have your gun's younger brother (#22xxx) in my collection. A finer .22 has never been made. Mine shows a DOB of 1940.
Hang on to those original checkered grips, but if you need a replacement, any grip that fits the Colt Python (Colt I-frame) will fit your gun.

Per your SN, DOM is 1938.0 -
Hello just a point the front sight is adjustable to raise and lower the point of impact the rear sight moves the point of impact left and right . move the rear sight in the direction you want the group to go and the Front sight the opposite direction you want the group to go there is a locking screw on the side and adjusting screw front to back on the very front of the front sight 0
