It's a model 41. The 46 barrel is a light weight field barrel. 0 -
All profiles are just like the 41HB in the next room.
The side flats don't APPEAR to have as high a polish as I expect on a 41 but maybe it is the lighting and angle of the pictures.0 -

You have a Model 46 barrel.

With respect, I would like to point out the difference between your barrel & David's.
Note on the left side view picture below the "Smith & Wesson" roll mark. Mark, your barrel has a step cut about 1/8 X 1/8 with a radiused front corner. David's barrel does not have this step cut relief, see his picture.
That relief cut is why the M41 barrel will work on the M46 gun but not vice-verse.
David, your 5 1/2" M46 heavy barrel is a rare animal. Smith % Wesson produced extra barrels for the M41 but I do not know of M46 barrels sold as extras.
The M46 5 1/2 heavy barrel model was produced 1964-1968 with 500 manufactured. The Smith & Wesson so equipped brings 25% to 75% premium.

Cussedemguns is THE correct answer I had forgotten about the extra cut on the model 41 No QUESTION ABOUT IT IMHO 0 -
That and the satin finish also make it a 46.
