H. Pieper Cape gun 12g 32.40 value

I have a H. Pieper cape gun made in Belgium.
It's a 12ga and 22.40. It's got steal barrels.
And I'm trying to get an accurate value for it
for a customer of mine but I can't seem to find
to much information about the gun if anyone could
help it would be much appreciated. If you need any
more info on the gun or better pics let me know.

    That article on little guns is about all i could find on it. But it does not really tale me much about that actual gun or its value.
    If anyone has any more info on it, it would be much appreciated

    Proof marks would be a great help as the it remains unclear whether the gun is proofed for nitro loads. (The patent date leads me to assume not as does the 32.40 as it's a black powder cartridge.)

    I would comment that the gun is more to the utilitarian side than anything else. It's also Belgian and while Pieper made some fine guns, they also made some really poor ones. No matter what your gun will suffer for this.

    Obviously the value of any gun is actually determined at the moment of sale. As to an opinion of potential value, all I can share is that if the gun were mine and for sale, I'd be very happy with a $500 offer. Value might be higher in Europe but here in the US this type of gun was never very popular.

    By the way... This wouldn't be either a WW1 or WW2 bringback, would it?

    I'm pretty sure it's not a WWI or WW2 I will try and get some proof mark pictures tonight when I get home. But I went to a gun show and I was fishing for some prices and I had two other dealers offer me 800 and 1200 on it, but I figured it they offered me it then it might be worth more because they are after the resale.

    You screwed the pooch big time, my friend. You should have took that 1200 bucks, and run out of that gunshow as fast as your little feet would move. In light of the condition and age of the Piper, 1200 would IMHO be about 3 times what it's worth, to a collector.

    + one on what Rufe Snow says. In my opinion your Cape gun is older then what you think it is also a Hammer gun they do not bring as much as a box lock hammerless action on top of that the extractor on the rifle barrel side looks to be either broken or a replacement that is incorrect for the 32/40 it should not be a different diameter then the rest of the rear of chamber. The overall condition of the piece is sort of sad at best. sorry but that is what I see in pictures. Karl

    If it where mine I probably would have took $800 but I'm trying to sell it for customer and I didn't have permission to sell it for that amount yet. He was expecting it to be worth more. Now I'm just trying to figure out an accurate price for him...

    My "bringback" remark was directed as when the piece might have been liberated, not when it was built. The gun is almost 100% certainly a pre WW1 piece and more than likely a pre 1900 piece.

    I stand by my quoted value. I'd consider a $500 offer very fair. Sell to a dealer who knows even a little and he'll offer half that. Please don't misunderstand... At the right time with the right buyer and all the stars properly aligned nobody can say what the gun will sell for. My estimate is for an average buyer on an average day.
