Iver Johnson
Anyone no what model and what years they were made?
On the barrel its says 20 guage choke bore barrel and lug forged in one. On the receiver it says Iver Johnson's Arms & cycle works Fitchburg Mass USA
I think the Locking Bolt Spring is broken.

I inherited an Iver Johnson Cadet .22 pistol Model 55-sa from my father-in-laws estate. It appears to be in very good cond. Does anyone out there know any approximate values? Anything will help. Thanks. 0 -
I.J. CADET MODEL 55S
1955-1960
The difference between the Model 55 and the Model 55S is only in the barrel length and grips. Grip panels are two piece small pocket size Tenite and the barrel length is 2 ? inches and finish is blue. Does not have Hammer the Hammer action. Caliber .22 rimfire with 8 rounds cylinder capacity, recessed chambers with Flash Control front rim (cylinder unfluted until 1958); Weight 24 ounces; Frame height 4 inches; Frame length 4 7/8 inches; Overall length 7 inches. DOES NOT HAVE HAMMER THE HAMMER ACTION
I.J. CADET MODEL 55SA
1961-1978
The difference between this A series and the earlier series is the addition of a loading gate to the right side of the frame. All specifications are the same except a small weight gain because of the loading gate. 22 RF (8), 32 S&W Long (5), 38 S&W (5) and 38 special (5) after 1974. DOES NOT HAVE HAMMER THE HAMMER ACTION
VALUE: 100%=$225 60%=$95

Also, does anyone know what type of grips came on these guns. These have a plastic type grip, kinda brown w/ slightly lighter and darker colors on them. Thanks again. 0 -
those sound like the original grips for this model. but if unhappy with em the large one piece plastic grips from the longer barrel model 55/55A will fit this model.

Okay, so if you don't mind can you tell me which one is the 55 and the 55S. I see you posted the differences but not specifying which one. I have a 55s and I am trying to date it, thanks! 0 -

The late Bill Goforth, was a author and authority on Iver Johnsons. Unfortunately he passed away, a couple of years ago.
Post some quality photos of your revolver. Showing all markings, even the numbers under the grips. One of our folks could probably identify and date it for you.0
