The first two names are "Trade Brand Names". A "Trade Brand Name" shotgun is one made by a major maker for and sold by a wholesaler or retailer who chose the name to go on the gun. Single barrel Keystone shotguns were made by the W.H. Davenport Arms Company for and were sold by the E.K. Tryon Jr. & Co of Philadelphia,PA. I can find no listing for the name Fergley but that's no surprise. I have listings for over 600 different names that were used between 1880 and 1940 and this one isn't among them. I find at least one (new?) unknown name a month (this is the fifth one for this month). Usually I find that the name was used by the Crescent Fire Arms Company of Norwich,CT (1892 to 1931). It has been said that Crescent would make as few as twelve guns with some name on them as long as the buyer paid for the die made up to stamp the name on the gun. So we usually blame an unknown on Crescent. Would you please confirm the name so that I can add it to my listings and if possible post a photo of the gun. You already have most of the information on the Kessler shotgun. Kessler Arms Corporatio (out of business) was located in Silver Creek,N.Y. and made only two models, one a lever action and the other a bolt action shotgun. The bolt action was made from 1951 to 1953. The values given in the Blue Book run from $90 to $30 depending on condition. 0 -
