44 mag vs 44 spl

Quick question, can we fire a 44 spl from a 44 mag gun? Cases are the same except for the length. 38 spl/357 mag the same.

    yes 44mag can fire 44spl but a 44spl cant fire a 44mag.
    (at least in my 629) i can use spl) if you fire too many 44spl you will have to clean the cylinder a little better

    as the spl will/might leave a ring inside the cylinder and the longer 44mag might be tight going in and out.

    In a RIFLE, they may not feed (length is wrong) but can still single feed. In a gas operated carbine, like the Ruger, be sure you are not using lead (unjacketed) bullets.

    Your .44 specials will work fine in a .44 magnum revolver. The .44 special round has a good reputation for accuracy. Many shooters prefer the specials for casual shooting.

    Yes, you can fire .44 special from .44 magnum revolvers.

    As mentioned, they may not properly cycle semi-automatic guns (Ruger carbine, Desert Eagle pistol), or feed properly through lever action guns.

    .44 special is a much milder/nicer round to fire as its ballistics are similar to that of .45ACP/.45 Colt.

    The problem is that the COST of the ammunition isn't usually much "milder" than .44 magnum.
