Re-Bluing will not make the 3-screw Ruger worth any more and may hurt the value, especially if the original hammer and parts are still in it.

It will seriously hurt the value to a collector if you re-blue it. To a shooter, who knows?

Save your money. Probably worth same in trade if original or redone, in the condition you stated..shooter grade gun,,imo..nambu

    This one is a no-brainer.

If you intend to sell or trade the gun, DO NOT get it reblued.

Even assuming the gun has no collector value which might be decreased by the reblue, the likelihood of you getting back the cost of the reblue job in the sale/trade price of your gun is slim at best.

In other words, even with a "shooter" gun (ie no collectors value), it will almost certainly cost you more money to have the gun reblued than the new finish will improve the value of the gun.

Unless the gun is so ugly/beaten that you think nobody will want it, let the new buyer reblue it, if he or she is so inclined.

Now if you want to KEEP the gun, then it might make sense to have the gun reblued, just because you'll enjoy it more. But that's not about being cost-effective, its just about having a gun that you like.

Send it to Ruger for the hammer change. They maybe will reblue the gun for you.
