Who does decent case coloring of rifles
Other than Turnbull...I don't want to have to get a second mortgage to pay for the case coloring!

Chris8161: Did you check Turnbull's prices for case coloring? Case coloring of receivers seems to be "extraordinarily" reasonable:

Thanks, I will call Turnbull tomorrow and see what his turn around time is. I e-mailed the other two companies listed to see what they charge also.

He is somewhat higher than the others, however, his work is not only outstanding, his name is the best in the business. All things considered, the case coloring cost of receivers is really quite good.0 -
I disagree somewhat with Turnbull being the best. If you send him the entire gun to be restored (recase colored), the receiver frames end up being over-polished, and are much too smooth. Original Winchester finishes were not as bright as his work, and when examined under low magnification, there are lots of noticable striations in the steel. When Turnbull is done with them, the steel surfaces are over polished (too smooth), and that is one reason that his case colors are so brilliantly bright. 0 -

I think I said his name is the best in the business Bert. If not, I'd like to know who is more well known than he is. His colors are brilliant though.0 -
IMO, Turnbull does overfinish a gun. His guns are more polished than the day they left the factory. 0 -

I "agree" a lot with what people have recently begun to say about Turnbull's work, but hey, he's tops in the business. I am not knocking other masters in the field either. You have to give credit where credit is due, and Turnbull's success is extraordinary. The case colors might be somewhat more brilliant on his work, for example, than original case colored Winchesters, however,"the mix of colors, to include, their patterns" on the whole are extraordinarily close to that of original Winchesters and Colts both. I can't say that I have seen this in anyone else's work.0
