SAVAGE 1919---19NRA question
have a Savage 22 cal bolt action rifle..clip/magazine fed..nov28 1905- sept 7 1915-sept 4 1917-nov 20 1917 pat. dates..full lenght stock with finger grooves. metal barrel band with sling swivel.grooved metal butt plate with indian head logo on the heel..looks similar to a springfield or enfield...my 1931 NRA magazine shows an ad with this rifle and calls it a model 1919..another ad in a 1932 magazine shows it as a NRA 19..both look the same to me..anyone know which is correct and if they were ever used as military trainers since it looks like a military rifle?????

The Blue Book has a write up on them in the Savage section. The first 50,000 made between 1919 and 1932 were known as Model 19 NRA. After 1932 they dropped the NRA and just called them Model 19. 6,000 Model 19's were made under military contract during W W II.
Do to the adds in the NRA magazine, it looks like the info in the B B is wrong.0
