Henry rifle 44mag
I am considering the purchase of a new Henry for a saddle gun. Not sure of the best caliber for 100 yards or less. Am not sure why I would use a pistol round in a rifle ala 357 Mag or 44 Mag??

The reason why you would use a rifle chambered in a pistol round is as simple now as it was over 100 years ago. You only need to carry one type of ammo. The rifle will usually perform better than the pistol with any given ammo.
I would opt for the Marlin over the Henry...especially for saddle/scabbord use.

if you can find a used navy arms import,it may be for you. i got a lightly used older model navy arms 1892 short rifle in 44-40 for 300.00. and i have not had to do a thing to it in over 1000-1500 reloads. the navy arms rifle has a better fit and finish along with real walnut. eastbank. 0
