SA 58 Para Congo

I decided not to purchase I rifle I made a post about the other day. Now I am looking at purchasing a SA 58 Para Congo. It has never been fired, comes with 4 30round mags, a sling, 200 rounds of 308, and the origional box it came in. I found a little info on these and they sound like nice rifles, a little heave but durable. I can get all for under $1000. Is this a good deal and are there nice rifles.

    It's DSA inc out of Illinois. Not sure what it stands for, the SA I assume is from the DSA not Springfield.

    If you can get it for less then $1000, it seems like a good deal. On the net the same rifle is priced at $2,200.

    It is a steal deal if its a DSA made rifle.. And it is still pretty decent if it is made on a DSA reciever, if it is reliable..

    Ok I I took a gamble on the rifle. I was told it is the Para Congo. I however can find no markings to tell me what other than it's a SA58. The flash suppresser is different from any I have seen on the photos. Is this just because it is a couple years old? Any info on the rifle anyone could offer would be very much appreciated. Oh also what was meant by the comment about not forgetting to adjust my gas settings. How do I do that? I was going to attach a photo but could not figure out how.

    Re gas settings, on the top of the barrel just behind the front sight there is a short sleeve that should be numbered from (I think) 1 to 7. Turning the sleeve bleeds more or less gas to the piston and drives the piston back to the bolt which in turn works the action. To tell you honestly, I forget which way is which but set the thing on 3 and see how it functions. If the action doesn't function smartly - kick out brass and hold open the bolt on the last shot - you need to get more gas into the system by turning the sleeve.

    You may want to bounce over to the FAL files forum and pick up some "how to" info. There's lots to learn about the gas system, cleaning, mounting a scope, etc.
